Experimental music collective out of Chile. There is an amazing
breadth of sounds on this release as one would expect from the
Beta-Lactam Ring of wizards. Some ancient tribal prog-folk blends
seamlessly into haunting drones. Ritualistic warbled vocals in Spanish
cut in and out of vast cosmic journeys. The first track is one epic 20
minute amorphous aural insanity with sheer nightmarish power. The track
starts with the prog vocals and they peak back out here and there. The
2nd and 3rd tracks have the mathy prog stuff but then cut into quiet
drones and found sounds. ALERT??these go into VERY
QUIET drones, almost to the point of silence for a couple minutes. The
song will ??jump back out at you out of nowhere and its actually a
pleasant experience letting them play through, but this a level of quiet
nearing dead air. The 2nd track goes quiet at 4 mins in, the 3rd goes
quiet 3 mins in. The fourth track is another twisting soundscape that is
pretty much silent for the last 3 mins and then comes back in for a few
seconds. The bonus CD here is a live instrumental performance where
their prog influences really shine through. This gets heavy to the point
of metal even, especially on the last track. Another mesmerizing
release from the Beta-Lactam Ring of do no wrong.
